Volvo Driver Blatantly Takes Out Cyclist In Nashville

Viral footage has re-emerged showing the moment the driver of a black Volvo XC60 blatantly crashed into a cyclist on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Tennessee.

The incident in question happened back in 2017. Helmet camera vision shows that there were two cyclists riding abreast along the road when suddenly, a black XC90 comes into view and slams into one of the cyclists, knocking him to the ground. It’s scary footage and shows that had the Volvo driver hit the cyclist with more force, he could have caused serious injury, if not killed the man.

Making matters worse is the fact that the XC90 driver can be seen driving away from the scene towards the end of the video.

Fortunately, however, the motorist, Grant Neely, didn’t escape scot-free as he was arrested and plead guilty to federal charges for striking the cyclist and leaving the scene. The cyclist, Tyler Noe, was hospitalized for treatment of injuries.

Despite helmet camera footage showing exactly what happened, the driver of the Volvo tried to protest the incident when he was being arrested. According to Tennessean, he told National Park Service rangers that a man and woman were standing in the road and that the two threw the bicycle into his black Volvo. A federal grand jury did not buy it and charged him with reckless aggravated assault, lying to a federal agent, and obstruction of justice.

Cyclists using the Natchez Trace Parkway are discouraged from riding two abreast but doing so is legal. Neely ultimately agreed to serve a 10-month prison sentence.
